Categories: Cookie
Yield: 1 Servings

2cSugar
3 Eggs
1cButtermilk
1tsBaking Soda (level)
2tsBaking powder
3cFlour
1 Pinch salt
1cRaisins
1tsNutmeg
1tsCinnamon
3cOatmeal
1cShortening; melted

Pour shortening over oatmeal and let stand 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Add remaining dry ingredients together and mix thoroughly. Add in eggs and buttermilk and blend. Add raisins and stir. Add oatmeal and stir. Drop by spoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake first batch at 375 degrees F. and then lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees F. for the remaining batches. NOTE FROM POSTER: Tried and True really doesn't quite cover this one. This recipe has been handed down through 4 generations at least. As far as we can remember, it goes back to my Great Grandmother, but we don't know if she came up with this, or if it was handed down to her!
